Step 6: Promote your webpage

Promote your website, and advertise on your website.
  • Promote your website

    • The number one way to promote yourself is to have a high google ranking. The higher your ranking, the higher your site will be seen in search results. If you have put 3 and 6 together, you figured out that this will result in more people viewing your site. Accomplished

      • Search Engine Optimization (SEO) is where it is at.

        • Meta Keywords: Important but not too important. But still good to have. Your keywords should describe your site and be separated by comments. (ex: Site about dog collars. Keywords: Dogs, Dog Breeds, Dog grooming, household pets, Dog collars, Dog outfits

Example: <meta name="keywords" content="Dogs, Dog Breeds, Dog grooming, household pets, Dog collars, Dog outfits">
        • Meta Description: Very important. The description is similar to the keywords, except this should be a full sentence about your site. (ex: Site about dog collars. Description: Welcome to the Internets number one dog collar seller. View thousands of inexpensive dog collars.)

Example: <meta name="description" content="Welcome to the Internets number one dog collar seller. View thousands of inexpensive dog collars.">
        • Page Title: Very Important. Your Page title should be similar to the description, but shorter. Try to keep this within 65 characters. (ex: Site About dog Collars. Title: Dog collars by the thousands with free shipping

Example: <TITLE>Dog collars by the thousands with free shipping</TITLE>
        • Site Content: Incredibly important. If you set all of your above SEO hotspots to being Dog related and all of your content is about cats. This is not going to help you out. Tip: the word "Dog" should be in text on your website at least a couple of times.

        • Here is a website that helps you check your page rank: PRchecker.info

      • If you want to spend money, there are many sites to choose from. Check out a few I have used:

        • Google Adwords

          • You should only use this service if your website sells a product. Whether that be an item, a service or a subscription of some sort. You don't really want to pay money if you don't have a way to make it back.

        • Facebook

          • You should only use this service if your website sells a product. Whether that be an item, a service or a subscription of some sort. You don't really want to pay money if you don't have a way to make it back.

        • Advertise.com

          • You should only use this service if your website sells a product. Whether that be an item, a service or a subscription of some sort. You don't really want to pay money if you don't have a way to make it back.

        • Microsoft Advertising

          • You should only use this service if your website sells a product. Whether that be an item, a service or a subscription of some sort. You don't really want to pay money if you don't have a way to make it back.

      • Parallel Promoting

        • There are thousands of websites out there that will list you as a sponsored link if you do the same for them. If you can get in good with a successful website, you could generate a lot of traffic for your website and also generate traffic for them in return. This is the best way for a cheap and easy way to get your websites name out there!

  • Advertise on your website

    • The number one way to make money off your website for little effort is to display ads on your website. (Unless you sell a product for a lot that costs a little of course)

      • The best and easiest way to advertise on your website is: Google Adsense. Adsense has a great user interface that track the number of clicks your site has produced. You can also receive nearly up to the minute reports of pageviews and money made. Once you signup for this service you can personalize the display of your ads and then code will be presented to you. All you do is copy this code and paste it on your website. Thats it! :-)
